Background

Hello dear friends and thank you for stopping by. I’m Coco, a Mama – Reiki Master – Art Director – living and working in Brooklyn, NY.

After trying out Reiki in 2014 for what I hoped might help relieve some symptoms of extreme physical anxiety I was experiencing, I was in awe of the powerful energy that first session actually brought to my life. I didn’t know exactly what to make of it at first, but I knew I needed to learn more. I started researching the practice and receiving sessions as often as I could afford before I became a student myself, and eventually a certified Usui I & II Reiki practitioner. I went on to become a Usui Reiki Master, incorporating self-Reiki into my regular meditation practice, and started on a path to healing others with this remarkable energy medicine. I continued to further my education with Reiki and studied with renowned teacher William Lee Rand, receiving his unique Holy Fire® Karuna Reiki Master certification with the International Center for Reiki Training, where I am now an Affiliate Member.

To shorten this journey down into a couple of paragraphs is something to marvel at now. It has been a road full of hard and painful self-realizations, involving peeling away layers of hurt and trauma after existing in what felt like a dark abyss of a chaotic nothingness for so long. It has been a road forged first from finding tiny crumbs of self-trust that led me to eventually hack out a clearing for wellness with self-discipline. On this journey I learned how to replace many destructive, self-deprecating behavioral patterns with cognition and stillness first, and then slowly, over time, with new responses of my conscious choosing. I learned how to break patterns from old wounds and recognize triggers. Nothing about this work has been easy. There have been times on this journey where I felt like a vase cracked into a thousand pieces scattered on the floor with no idea how to become whole again. Reiki was there as the ultimate healer, flooding in light to seal those cracks, like a spiritual repair glue.

I have continued doing the hard work of looking at myself and my past as well as the energetic and emotional ties within and around me in order to become stronger, more capable and more connected to myself and others. It is a road that is still continuing and will always be evolving. Now as my more connected self and as a Mama to a beautiful young soul, I feel incredibly grateful to see how much my life has been transformed through this work. I’m honored to now be able to share this with others in continuing the cycle of healing in the way that Reiki has helped me.

If you have doubts of this practice or how “real” it is, or its effectiveness, I did too… I enjoyed learning about the scientific evidence behind Reiki and its positive effects on the mind and body to reaffirm this work. But most of all you can’t deny the way it makes you feel. I’m happy to answer any questions and offer more insight into how Reiki may offer a positive impact on your life too.

“In your daily life, please accept yourself as you are and appreciate your life as it is. Be intimate with yourself. Taking good care of yourself is always the best way to take care of everything. Then your life, I am sure, will go alright. I want you to be a truly intimate being.”
